Version and scope

Updated October 13, 2026. This notice describes Seen 2.0; check the App Store for the currently available version. Version 1.0 does not include the new complete asset backup and recap workflows. Its photo understanding may use reduced images and Live Photo keyframes, as described in that version's sending notice. This website does not receive or store your photo library.

Materials you choose to add

iOS controls photo and location permissions, including access to selected photos only. After you explicitly choose photos to add, Seen reads available capture dates, locations, media types and dimensions to organize experiences on this device. Apple Photos manages originals. Place corrections, your text, works and caches are local. Nearby lookup uses the current location only with permission. Apple map services provide maps and place search and require a network connection.

Local recaps and saving

Recaps summarize imported records with the relevant information, not a complete life history or verified visits. A work is saved only when you explicitly choose Keep; system and AI suggestions do not automatically rewrite saved works. No Seen account is required and there is no account-based cloud sync. Local asset backup and restore exclude original system photos. Protect backups that contain private content.

Optional photo understanding

Photo understanding currently sends directly to DeepSeek. After separate confirmation of the selected scope and costs, cleaned still JPEGs are sent with a longest side of up to 1024 pixels and without EXIF, GPS or device information. Original files, Live Photo frames, video and audio are not sent. Capture dates, places and local photo identifiers are not attached. Images and visible text may nevertheless reveal people, specific locations or other personal information. Valid existing results are reused; forced reanalysis requires an explicit choice.

Text analysis and polishing

Relationship analysis is sent only to DeepSeek. Unlike the scope of an individual photo selection, text synthesis may read the index of all experiences added to Seen and retrieve related materials within the current authorization and budget. Sent materials include capture dates, place names, notes, tags, validated photo-analysis fields and safe metadata. Precise coordinate fields and permanent local identifiers are not automatically attached; specific place names and text may still contain addresses or personal information. Anonymity is not guaranteed. Independent text polishing requires a separate explicit action and sends only the selected original text and its type. It does not enable Home AI or include other text.

Authorization, costs and stopping

While Home AI mode is enabled with the relevant authorization, material changes or an explicit generation may trigger text requests without a new confirmation for every request. Photo scope and costs require separate confirmation; valid analysis results are reused, and forced reanalysis requires separate authorization. Turning Home AI off cancels the current photo-understanding and relationship-analysis tasks. Independent polishing is requested only when you explicitly submit selected original text. You can also revoke photo-understanding authorization or remove the DeepSeek connection to stop the corresponding new requests. Already-sent content cannot be recalled. AI may be wrong or find no connection and does not replace factual judgment. DeepSeek charges fees under your account rules.

Provider and credentials

Optional AI in Seen connects only to DeepSeek and requires your own DeepSeek API key. Photo-understanding and text requests go directly to DeepSeek, without a Seen-operated content relay. The key is stored in a device-only, non-synchronizing Keychain item and sent to DeepSeek for authentication. DeepSeek may process connection IP addresses and account association information. Retention, training, deletion and international processing depend on its applicable terms and your account rules. Seen does not guarantee zero retention, no training or a fixed retention period. Uninstalling does not guarantee removal of Keychain items; remove the DeepSeek connection in the app and revoke the key in your DeepSeek account if needed.

Deletion and originals

Deleted experiences and works have no Recently Deleted page or individual-item recovery. Earlier backups may still contain deleted content; deletion is not secure erasure and cannot recall shared materials. Removing material from Seen, deleting records, organization, recaps and sharing do not delete Apple Photos originals. Only a separate Delete from Photos action followed by system confirmation requests deletion of verified originals. iCloud Photos may synchronize deletion across devices. Apple Photos provides any system-photo recovery.

Sharing, website and support

You choose the sharing destination. Cover images can contain photos, titles, places and dates; check them before sending. The website is static, without added advertising, analytics or tracking scripts. GitHub may process IP addresses and request information as the host. Support emails contain only what you choose to send. Contact liuh11260@gmail.com; do not send API keys or a private photo library.
