Getting started

Choose photos to add and confirm the import. Seen organizes experiences on your device using available dates and places. Browse Past by day, month or year, or search for a date, city or place. Missing or unreliable details are not guessed.

Look Back and recaps

Home contains Look Back, System Recaps and Discoveries. All provides a persisted mixed order; filters show only the chosen type. Monthly, yearly, same-place, city, on-this-day and cross-year recaps summarize records added to Seen, not your complete life history. Experience counts are not verified visits. A small library may have no matching theme.

Browse, keep and share

Tap a photo to view it at full size and continue through the same theme. Details retain dates, places, maps and related-experience links. Keep explicitly saves a Seen work. Edit its title, description, selected photos and cover within the work. Sharing previews one image with the original cover, title, places, dates and counts before you choose a destination.

When a photo is unavailable

Check that the original remains in Apple Photos and is downloaded, then review Seen's photo access. If necessary, open Photo Maintenance in Settings and explicitly confirm a relink. Maintenance does not silently substitute a similar image. An unavailable original does not delete its experience.

Optional AI

Core organization and recaps work without AI. Optional AI supports only DeepSeek; configure your own DeepSeek API key in Settings. Photo understanding separately confirms photo scope and costs and sends cleaned still thumbnails. Relationship analysis uses the imported-experience index and text materials within the authorized scope. Material changes or an explicit generation may trigger text analysis while Home AI mode and the relevant authorization remain active. Independent polishing separately sends the selected original text. DeepSeek fees apply under your account rules; AI may be wrong or find no new connection. See the privacy policy.

Backups and deletion

Export a local asset backup in Settings to retain core records, works and related explicit choices. Original photos are excluded. Restore checks versions and conflicts and does not merge or overwrite different existing assets. There is no Seen account cloud sync, Recently Deleted page or individual-item recovery. A shared cover is not a complete backup. Deleting a record does not delete Apple Photos originals; deleting originals is a separate action requiring system confirmation.
